This was conveyed by the National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, in his statement after attending the Plenary Cabinet Session, at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, on Monday, December 11 2023.


"The National Police will of course carry out several studies and then we will prepare steps in the field which we have also held joint coordination meetings with the relevant ministries," he said in front of the media crew.


The National Police Chief explained that in the future there will be a movement of around 107.6 million people who will observe the Christmas and New Year holidays. Therefore, the National Police Chief believes that this needs to be managed well so that it can run safely and smoothly.


"The National Police is of course preparing operations to carry out security guard activities related to the series of Christmas and New Year activities by carrying out candlelight operations which we will carry out from December 22 to January 2," he said.


Apart from that, regarding traffic regulation, the National Police Chief also said that his staff would implement a number of traffic engineering efforts such as controlling contra flow to one-way systems.


"Of course we already have a formula related to traffic counting which we tried yesterday during the Eid al-Fitr holiday," he added.


Meanwhile, regarding the implementation of religious activities during the Christmas celebration, the National Police Chief said that his staff would take part in providing security during the implementation of religious services both on December 25 and other dates. The National Police Chief explained that a number of National Police personnel had been prepared to secure a number of places of worship.


"And of course it also facilitates when in a place people or people who are going to carry out religious activities are disturbed because there is no place," he said.


Furthermore, the National Police Chief emphasized that apart from religious activities or New Year celebrations, political activities and the distribution of aid to the community are also the government's attention. The National Police Chief said that his staff would help oversee the distribution of basic necessities and fuel to the public.


"Therefore, operations to monitor prices, operations to monitor the distribution of basic necessities, to control fuel, especially for people who are on congested routes, then there must be assistance related to fuel distribution, the National Police together with colleagues from Pertamina have of course created a task force. specifically," he continued.


Apart from that, the National Police Chief said that his staff had prepared a special task force to anticipate disasters during the rainy season in a number of areas. The National Police Chief said that government officials would collaborate to provide first aid to a number of affected areas.


"We are preparing a special contingency task force for disaster management so that the TNI, Polri, BNPB, and all existing stakeholders are ready to be present and provide first aid when a disaster occurs in areas which we are currently monitoring continuously and which may have an impact," he stressed.
