Star News INDONESIA, Tuesday, (26 August 2025). JAKARTA - Indonesia’s top military commander on Monday unveiled a major organizational reform within the national armed forces (TNI), including the formation of two new units and the dissolution of an existing one, in a bid to strengthen the military’s operational readiness and institutional efficiency.
General Agus Subiyanto, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), officially launched the TNI Logistics Agency (Balog TNI) and the Personnel Administration Center (Pusminpers TNI) during a ceremony at the TNI headquarters in East Jakarta. Simultaneously, he announced the liquidation of the TNI Supply Agency (Babek TNI), which had previously handled provisioning functions.
“This restructuring is part of our strategy to build a more adaptive, responsive, and future-oriented military organization,” General Subiyanto said in a statement.
Senior Officer Rotations and Promotions
The reform effort also included a significant reshuffle within TNI’s leadership. A total of 31 senior officers were promoted, including 23 from the Army, 7 from the Navy, and 1 from the Air Force, as stipulated in TNI Order No. Sprin/1706/VIII/2025 dated August 22.
Key appointments included:
* Vice Admiral Hersan as Inspector General of TNI
* Lieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun as Assistant for Operations
* Major General Mohamad Naudi Nurdika as Commander of the TNI Training and Education Command
* Brigadier General (Marine) Freddy Ardianzah as Head of the TNI Information Center (Kapuspen)
* Air Vice Marshal Dr. Budhi Achmadhi as Head of the Strategic Policy and Research Center
Additional shifts affected logistics, operations, and administrative units, with numerous generals assuming new roles aimed at improving command efficiency.
Strategic Realignment to Face Future Threats
The restructuring is seen as part of a broader modernization plan for the Indonesian military, focusing on human capital development, logistics support optimization, and inter-branch coordination in the face of growing regional and global security challenges.
“Leadership regeneration, career development, and structural consolidation are essential to ensuring the TNI is ready to respond to complex future missions,” Subiyanto said.
Indonesia has been seeking to modernize its defense institutions as it expands its regional role and adapts to evolving security threats, including cyber defense, disaster response, and maritime domain enforcement.
