JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo attended the main event commemorating National Teachers' Day (HGN) 2023 which was held at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, on Saturday, November 25 2023. In his speech, the President appreciated the dedication and work of teachers and said that he could become president because the role of teachers.
"What I know is that from morning to night, teachers never stop dedicating themselves to the children of the Indonesian nation. It is the state's obligation to give maximum appreciation and gratitude to teachers. "I can become a president like this because of teachers," said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi also reminded that teachers have an obligation to continue to innovate, improve the quality of education in order to produce human resources (HR) with Indonesian personality and character. Apart from that, these human resources are also expected to be able to excel in facing future challenges that are not easy.
Furthermore, President Jokowi said that global changes are currently happening every day. Technological disruption, the global political landscape and the economic landscape are always changing and difficult to predict.
"Therefore, I really appreciate the joint movement, moving together in the framework of Freedom to Learn which was initiated by the Minister, because without a change in paradigm, a change in mind set, it will be difficult for us to adapt to changes in the world which is now changing almost every second, technology "Every second it changes," he said.
"I also really appreciate that the Merdeka Belajar platform, the Merdeka Belajar application, is always used as a reference, used as a sharing between teachers so that our innovation is not too late due to changes in the world," he continued.
At the end of his speech, President Jokowi believed that Indonesia would have quality teachers. The Head of State also expressed his appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the teachers.
"I am sure that in the near future Indonesia will have quality teachers, both with advanced mindsets and prosperous lives, and once again thank you for the hard work and dedication of teachers. "Continue to work, continue to innovate, and continue to transform," he said.
Also present at the event were Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Acting. Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, and Acting. West Java Governor Bey Machmudin.
