Star News INDONESIA, Friday, (08 December 2023). JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo appointed Inspector General of Police. Marthinus Hukom as Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on Friday, December 8 2023, at the State Palace, Jakarta. Marthinus Hukom replaces Petrus Golose who is entering retirement.
The inauguration of the Head of BNN was carried out based on Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 182/TPA of 2023 concerning Dismissal and Appointment from and to Main High Leadership Positions within the National Narcotics Agency.
"I promise that I will be loyal and obedient to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as strictly as possible for the sake of my devotion to the nation and state," said President Jokowi dictating the oath of office.
It is known that Marthinus graduated from the Police Academy (Akpol) Class of 1991. Before being appointed as Head of BNN, Marthinus served as Head of the National Police's Special Detachment (Kadensus) 88 Anti-terror (AT).
In his statement after the inauguration, Marthinus Hukom expressed his appreciation for the mandate given by President Jokowi. He said he would continue the work programs of previous BNN leaders and carry out innovations to prevent the circulation of narcotics in the country.
"Evaluating what our seniors have done, if it is a good thing we will continue and maybe there is a need for additions. We will carry out innovations to neutralize all narcotics trafficking in Indonesia," said Inspector General of Police Marthinus Hukom.
The inauguration event ended with President Joko Widodo giving congratulations which were then followed by the invited guests present.
Also present at the inauguration ceremony were Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo, Chairman of the Supreme Court Muhammad Syarifuddin, Chairman of the Judicial Commission Amzulian Rifai, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Attorney General St. Burhanuddin.
