| UGM Provides Original Documents, Police Confirm Jokowi’s Diploma Is Official and Valid. |
Star News INDONESIA, Saturday, (08 November 2025). JAKARTA - Investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) have named eight people as suspects in the alleged forgery case involving President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) university diploma.
The decision came after the police examined hundreds of pieces of evidence confirming the authenticity and validity of Jokowi’s diploma, officially issued by Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
Director of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, stated that the investigation process took considerable time due to the large volume of digital evidence that needed to be analyzed.
“Frankly, there are so many items of digital forensic evidence that we needed to review. Such examinations are not quick; they definitely take a long time,” Asep said during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Friday (November 7, 2025).
He added that the digital forensic and laboratory results were only completed in recent weeks, which allowed investigators to move forward with naming the suspects.
“Since the results from digital forensics and the forensic laboratory were finalized just in the past few weeks, we can now proceed based on those findings,” he explained.
According to Asep, investigators have seized 723 items of evidence, including original documents from Gadjah Mada University that prove Jokowi’s diploma is authentic and officially issued by the institution.
These materials have undergone comprehensive forensic examination — both analog and digital.
With the completion of the forensic process and evidence review, police concluded that claims of Jokowi’s diploma being fake were baseless.
The naming of suspects marks a firm step in law enforcement’s effort to combat the spread of false information in the digital space.
