Star News INDONESIA, Monday, (21 April 2025). ERONGGOBAK - A warm and friendly atmosphere filled one of the traditional honai houses in Eronggobak, Omukia District, Puncak Regency. On April 21, 2025, the Eromaga Post under the Yonif 700/WYC Task Force hosted a “Coffee Gathering” (Ngopi Bareng) with the local community. More than just sharing coffee, the event featured a communal meal, casual conversations, and live music played on guitar by TNI soldiers.
Photos from the event showed uniformed TNI personnel mingling comfortably with residents, including children and mothers. Smiles lit up faces as people sat together enjoying fried snacks, biscuits, and hot coffee. Children, in particular, looked excited as they interacted with the soldiers while receiving their treats.
The Commander of Eromaga Post, Second Lieutenant (Letda) Sudirman, explained that the gathering was part of the TNI's humanistic approach to building closer relationships with the people of Papua.
“We want the community to feel that we are not just here as security forces, but as brothers. Through sharing coffee, we exchange stories, laughter, and get to know each other better,” Letda Sudirman said during an interview at the event.

He added that such interactions help reduce the emotional distance between the military and civilians, strengthening bonds of togetherness in the hopes of fostering peace and harmony.
Beyond that, the event also aimed to uplift the spirits of mountain communities with limited access to public services. This simple yet meaningful gathering was a special moment for residents, particularly because warm, communal settings like this are a rare treat in their daily lives.
With the breathtaking Papuan mountains as a backdrop and the cool highland air all around, the “Coffee Gathering” between TNI soldiers and Eronggobak locals became a true symbol of how peace can begin with a cup of coffee and a sincere desire to connect.
