Star News INDONESIA, Thursday, (14 Desember 2023). GRESIK - President Joko Widodo appreciates the National Police's efforts to eradicate online gambling, one of which is football. The President asked his staff to continue taking eradication steps in the future.
This was conveyed by President Jokowi in his statement before media crew after inaugurating the PT Smelting Expansion in the PT Smelting Area, Gresik Regency, East Java Province, on Thursday, December 14 2023.
"Yesterday, when I was arrested by the National Police for something related to football and online gambling, I thought this was very good, don't stop here, continue," he said.
President Jokowi said that the government has emphasized eradicating soccer gambling in Indonesia. The President emphasized that football must be free from the practices of the football mafia.
"So that the ball is truly clean, the game is fair, that is what will transform football in Indonesia," he concluded.
The Head of State emphasized that the transformation of Indonesian football will move forward even better when the act of match fixing and playing in matches is eliminated.
"There is no match fixing, there are no money games in matches, that is what will drive the transformation of Indonesian football. If this is not finished, don't expect our football to rise in level even though it is starting to get better now," he said.
