JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo attended the commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of the Teachers' Association of the Republic of Indonesia (PGRI) and National Teachers' Day 2023 which was held at the Britama Arena, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Saturday, November 25 2023. In his remarks, the Head The state expresses its thanks and appreciation to all teachers and educators in the country.
"On behalf of myself, on behalf of the government, on behalf of the people, I would like to express my gratitude for the dedication, for the contribution of teachers in educating Indonesia's young generation, in educating all of us," said the President.
The President said that being a teacher is not an easy job. In fact, research from an international institution says that the level of stress experienced by teachers is higher than in other jobs because of three things.
"The first is because of student behavior, the second is because of changes in the curriculum, the third is because of technological developments," said the President.
The President also hopes that teachers and educational staff in the country will continue to innovate, adapting to all changing times and technological developments. This is important to produce superior Indonesian human resources towards an advanced Indonesia.
“Long live Master! Long live Master! Long live PGRI! Solidarity!" said the President.
Also accompanying the President at the event were the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, and the General Chairperson of the PGRI Executive Board (PB) Unifah Rosyidi.
